Mark has been either a director or co-opted director since the inception of the REW DT back in 2003. Mark was the founding chair of the Trust and lead on a voluntary basis, setting it up, and then developing, securing and operating our 900kW revenue generating wind turbine. He now works for Community Energy Scotland (where he is now CTO) based on this experience, and has supported hundreds of significant community energy and other asset projects nationally and internationally in the last 15 years. He has been co-opted to the board for the last 10 years. He brings expertise in the field of alternative and sustainable technology, community-led action and development (and governance), and in the last decade has also developed and led on a number of local community led, but nationally significant, innovation projects and initiatives here and in the wider sector, including being pivotal in the successful application and delivery of the Heat Smart Orkney Project, Surf n Turf and the current Carbon Neutral Islands Initiative and the Islands Centre for Net Zero across the Scottish Islands.
