Our excellent Ferry service opens up the possibility of having a job on Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre.
Travel to and from Rousay from Tingwall is just a 20 minute journey by ferry. The ferry is based on Rousay, and services Egilsay & Wyre first thing in the morning, before leaving Rousay for Mainland at 07:45, arriving at Tingwall at 08:05am, with the return from Tingwall arriving back to Rousay just before 9am. The ferry runs 6 return trips throughout the day, with the last return journey at 18:00.
A bus service also co-ordinates with the ferry times from Tingwall, giving direct services to and from Kirkwall.

Job description
A permanent vacancy exists for a Master to serve onboard Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre service. However, you may be required to cover on other routes as required.
Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced officers to fill this post.
Applicants must hold as minimum:
• Valid Masters STCW CoC or Boat Master License – Passenger Vessel Operations: up
to 250 passengers within following areas: Cat D Kirkwall / Rousay.
• GMDSS ROC or equivalent.
• Valid ENG1
• Updated STCW Personal Survival Techniques
• Updated STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting
• Updated STCW Elementary first aid
Ideally candidates should also hold the following, but training will be provided for the right
candidate.
• STCW Crowd Management
• STCW Passenger Safety, Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity
• STCW Crisis Management and Human Behavior
The successful candidate will be required to adhere to the company’s policies, including the Drug and Alcohol Policy which includes provision for random testing without cause.
Candidates must be prepared to reside on Rousay when on duty shift.
The salary scale for this post is £49,371 to £58,243 pa inclusive of DIA (currently £2,997) subject to qualifications and experience.
The Company operates a contributory pension scheme currently at 15% and a sick pay scheme.

Job description
A permanent vacancy exists for a General Purpose Deck Rating to serve on board Orkney Ferries vessels, primarily on the Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre service, however you will be required to cover on other routes as required.
Duties will be varied between deck rating, purser or cook as required. This post will require a high level of interaction with the travelling public. On duty periods will be defined by the shift rota for the position.

Applicants must hold as minimum:
• Valid ENG 1 medical certificate.
• STCW PSSR.
• STCW Elementary First Aid.
• STCW Personal Survival Techniques.
• STCW Fire Prevention & Fire Fighting (3-day course).
Ideally candidates should also hold the following, but training will be provided for the right candidate.
• STCW Crowd Management
• STCW Crisis Management and Human behaviour
• STCW Passenger Safety Cargo Safety and Hull Integrity
• Elementary Food Hygiene
Efficient Deck Hand (EDH) is desirable, but candidates not holding an EDH will be considered and will be required to gain their EDH certificate within 2 years.

Job description
Do you enjoy spending time with children? Are you looking for part-time work?
If the answer is yes then we have a fantastic opportunity to work with
our family as a part-time Nanny and Housekeeper.
We are looking for someone to help care for our 2 younger children
aged 3 and 8 years plus be around for our older school age girls.
There will also be general housekeeping duties and some cooking.
This will be the perfect job for someone who likes to have weekends
and most of their mornings off.
The hours of work will be 28 hours a week, initially Monday to
Thursday 1pm to 6pm, and Friday 9am to 5pm.
There will also be a need for occasional extra hours, particularly
during school holidays, but these will be flexible.
Qualifications are not essential if you have experience with children,
however you will need to be able to drive and the job will be offered
subject to PVG checks and references.
Pay is £16 per hour, with a work place pension and 29 days holiday per
year (inc Bank Holidays)

Six return ferry trips per day from Rousay, and three each from Egilsay & Wyre. All connect with the Orkney Mainland bus service direct into Kirkwall.
Our new offices at the Pier offer desk space, free broadband and other facilities to allow ‘hot desk’ working.
Rousay Community School is a mixed primary school providing education for children aged 2/3 years up to 12 years of age from Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre within the Nursery/Pre-School and the Primary School.
The surgery on Rousay is open weekdays with our own nurse on call 24/7. Doctors visit Rousay twice a week
Rousay has it’s own Scottish Ambulance Service First Responder and fire service.
The islands of Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre are home to a community of approximately 260 people and are an ideal commuter base, serviced by a regular ferry service operating from Tingwall on the Orkney Mainland.
